Common people sometimes asks, " Surgery is also taught in Homoeopathy?!" after knowing the full form of BHMS (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine & Surgery). Yes. But people should have a complete idea about Homoeopathy and what are taught to the Homoeopathy graduates in their 5 & half year BHMS Course.
First, if you are not a homoeopath, then you should go through the REAL HOMOEOPATHY page of this website through the more pages button at the top corner of this page or copy the following link and paste in Google search box: dranindya.weebly.com/real-homoeopathy.html Secondly, know what subjects are taught in BHMS. Two types of subjects are taught.
All medical subject knowledge are same to be learnt as in Allopathy (MBBS course). Difference lies in medicines and its applying principles. So, Biochemistry & Pharmacology of allopathy is not taught here. Instead, homoeopathic subjects are taught. Thats why at least same quality of student is necessary in BHMS, if possible higher is solicited. Because medicine selection in homoeopathy is difficult, individual variations even after reaching a diagnosis is needed for true homoeopathic prescribing. Unfortunately in India, Homoeopathy does not get enough good students due to unequal appreciation by society leading to financially weak future. Though there is reason for that: the same fact of low quality students turning into homoeopathic doctor without understanding of homoeopathic principles & prescribes multiple medicines, so called patent drugs etc. leading to failure & thus spreading misconception about homoeopathy. But only homoeopathy can cure millions of complicated chronic diseases and acute diseases safely & gently. So homoeopathy needs intelligent, sincere, kind hearted students from affluent family so that he/she can think about true homoeopathy in depth with a mind to serve mankind kindly and responsibly without any headache of financial crunch in beginning days. Only homoeopathy can serve mankind with complete care from one window with a responsible and exclusive care for the patient. No need of refferal to different doctors for symptoms of different systems in body under homoeopathic treatment, except true surgical diseases & accidental emergencies. Now whats about surgery in homoeopathy? There are some diseases called surgical diseases which should be resolved only by mechanical help of surgical operation. No internal medicine can resolve those cases whether in allopathy & homoeopathy. So the physician should identify surgical diseases and refer to the surgeon. To do that he/she should know the surgical diseases well from the Surgery subject (theoretical part). That is taught in BHMS course. As homoeopathic medicines act on symptoms similarity principle and injuries from surgical incision does not provide sufficient siginificant symptoms for homoeopathic medicine selection, so surgical operation can not be reliably followed up immediately with homoeopathy. Thats why Operative Surgery (i.e. practical part) becomes irrelevant in homoeopathy. Probably for that reason many Homoeopathic Medical Colleges does not have OT set up. Surgical operations preferably to be followed up immediately by allopathic antibiotics etc. But a homoeopathic doctor can competently assess the case and refer to surgeon in time if it is a truly surgical cases. Boils, warts, benign tumors which are not causing complication from space occupying, etc. are not truly surgical diseases, can be dealt with homoeopathy well. Likewise Obstetrics is also taught mainly theoretically, followed by an exposure to the delivery cases during internship usually in any allopathic hospital. Thank you for your valuable time. Stay healthy with the help of real Homoeopathy.
